AquaCal Heat Pumps
AquaCal FAQs
While gas heaters provide fast heat, they are expensive to operate. AquaCal heat pumps are up to 80% more efficient than propane and 50–70% more efficient than natural gas. Instead of creating heat by burning fuel, AquaCal units move "free" heat from the air into your water using a refrigeration cycle.
Additionally, AquaCal heat pumps use titanium heat exchangers which are impervious to damage from water chemistry in both traditional chlorine and salt pools. Whereas gas heaters use copper or cupronickel heat exchangers which can become damaged in very short time due to water chemistry conditions. This is a huge point of failure for traditional gas pool heaters.
Most air-source heat pumps work best when the air is above 50°F. However, AquaCal’s IceBreaker® technology (found on HeatWave SuperQuiet models) allows the unit to continue heating in ambient temperatures down to near freezing, significantly extending your season in northern climates and states such as Arizona where there are large swings in day to evening temperatures.
Heat pumps are designed to be "maintainers." On initial startup, it may take 24 to 72 hours to reach your desired temperature depending on your pool size and the weather along with the sizing and specification of your AquaCal heat pump. This is why it is critical to work an authorized AquaCal dealer such as SaltPoolGuys.com to ensure proper sizing and performance.
Once reached, the unit will efficiently cycle on and off to keep that temperature consistent.
Because we are an nationwide authorized AquaCal dealer, your full factory warranty is 100% valid. This includes 2 years of parts & labor coverage. Failure to purchase your AquaCal heat pump from an authorized dealer will void your warranty coverage as per AquaCal's warranty policy.

Many of our customers install their AquaCal units themselves. Simply follow and install your AquaCal pool heat pump as per the manufacturer's instructions and you're covered.

There are 3 factors to consider when self-installing your AquaCal pool heat pump. Some customers choose to handle portions of the install themselves while hiring a professional such as a licensed electrician to handle other aspects.
