Do you sell generic or aftermarket cells?

No. All of the cells that we sell are made directly by AutoPilot. Unfortunately, the generic / aftermarket cells do not need our quality standards and in many cases, they do not meet our safety standards. If a generic or aftermarket cell meets our standards in quality and safety we will certainly consider it for future use. An article in an industry trade magazine detailed the safety issues of cells made by the largest manufacturer of generic cells.

What is the difference between part #s? Super Cell? SC? RC? PPC?

AutoPilot has changed the model number of their salt cells several times over the years for different marketing purposes. Today all AutoPilot salt cells use the “PPC” (Pool Pilot Cell) part # format.

What is the difference between the solid white body cells and the clear cells?

AutoPilot no longer produces cells with a solid white plastic body. The cell bodies are now semi-transparent for easier inspection of the cell blades. All cells that we sell are the current model with the clear cell body.

Can I replace my cell with a smaller or larger cell?

This will vary depending on the model of the Pool Pilot control box. There should be a model # on the left side of the control box.

All AutoPilot salt cells are the same physical size. The blade count inside of the cell is what changes and determines how much chlorine will be produced by the cell on a daily and lifetime basis.

Does the salt cell include a warranty?

AutoPilot offers a 2-year manufacturer’s warranty when the cell cord is purchased and replaced at the same time as replacing the cell. It is important to note that the warranty covers manufacturer’s defects and the cell cord connection. It does not cover wear and tear of the cell so proper chemical balance and operation of the system are important to the longevity of the cell. SaltPoolGuys.com is an authorized AutoPilot Pool Pilot dealer in good standing.

How difficult is it to replace an AutoPilot Pool Pilot cell?

It is not difficult at all. The cell and cord are both designed by the manufacturer to be replaced by the homeowner without the need for professional assistance. We offer our customers detailed customer support along the way should they need help.

How long does an AutoPilot Pool Pilot salt cell last?

AutoPilot does not publish any official hour calculation for how long a cell will last.

Do I need to replace my cell cord? Why?

Yes. The cell cord should always be replaced when replacing the cell. This a requirement of AutoPilot’s warranty policy.

What happens if I do not replace my cell cord?

It can void the manufacturer’s warranty. If the old cell cord overheats and causes any damage to the cell this will not be covered by the manufacturer’s warranty. We always reccomend staying in compliance with the manufacturer’s warranty policy and change the cell cord.

Which cell cord do I need for my cell?

The cell part # does not dictate which cord is needed. Instead, the model of the Pool Pilot control box dictates what is needed.

What cord lengths are available?

AutoPilot uses a 12-foot cord length as the standard. A 24-foot version is available for special applications. We always default to a 12-foot length.
