Q.
Are the AutoPilot Pool Pilot replacement cells that you sell refurbished or reconditioned?
No. We never sell refurbished, reconditioned or used AutoPilot Pool Pilot replacement cells. When purchasing a replacement cell from SaltPoolGuys.com you can rest assured that we only sell brand new and factory original AutoPilot Pool Pilot salt cells.

Q. Can I replace the AutoPilot Pool Pilot cell myself?
A. Yes, AutoPilot Pool Pilot salt cells are designed to be homeowner serviceable for cleaning and replacement. Most of our customers easily replace their own salt cells as no technical knowledge or special skills are required. We offer tech support via e-mail, text message and toll-free phone should you have any questions or need assistance.

Q.
Do I need to reset or program my AutoPilot Pool Pilot control unit when replacing my cell?
A. No. The only time adjustment would be needed to the controller is if you were replacing the cell with a different sized cell. If the cell size needs to be adjusted it is very easy to do within the "installer's menu".

Q. Do replacement cells have a warranty?
A. Yes. Since SaltPoolGuys.com is an authorized AutoPilot Pool Pilot dealer replacement cells used on residential applications carry a 2-year manufacturer's warranty against defects. (Cells used on commercial or public applications carry a 1-year manufacturer's warranty). It is important to replace the power cord leading to the cell when replacing the cell as the manufacturer's warranty states that this cord should be replaced when replacing the cell in order to maintain the 2-year warranty. All warranties are for cells installed within the United States.

Q.
There are multiple part numbers for the same cell. How do I know which cell to order?
A. Over the year the manufacturer has made changes to the part numbers several times for AutoPilot Pool Pilot salt cells. Below is a list of previous and current part #s. All new AutoPilot cells produced as of early 2017 now use the "PPC" (Pool Pilot Cell) model #s.
  • Current Part # PPC1 - Replaces RC35/22, RC35, Super Cell SC-36, SC-36 & AP150
  • Current Part # PPC2 - Replaces RC28
  • Current Part # PPC3 - Replaces RC42, Super Cell SC-48, SC-48 & AP250
  • Current Part # PPC4 - Replaces RC52, Super Cell SC-60 & SC-60
  • Current Part # PPC5 - Replaces CC-15, RC-15 & AP-500
Q. Why do I need to replace the cord with the cell when replacing the cell?
A. The manufacturer's warranty policy states that the cell power cord should be replaced when replacing the cell. We are often asked by customers if they need to replace the cord if it "looks good". The reason behind replacing the cord when replacing the cell is that over time the cable can become "fatigued" where the terminals no longer securely connect to the silver prongs outside of the cell or corrosion builds up within the terminals. When either of these two scenarios occurs the cell cord can overheat to such a state that the cord itself will melt to the cell causing damage to the cell. Replacing the cell and cord at the same time will cover the cell, cord and connection between the two items under a 2-year manufacturer's warranty for residential applications and a 1-year manufacturer's warranty for commercial or public applications. If a cord is not replaced when replacing the cell and the old cord causes damage to the cell it won't be covered under the manufacturer's warranty.
